Safety Is Never
An Afterthought
A great finish starts with a safe process. From handling and storage to the right protective gear and painting order, here's everything you need to know before you pick up the brush.
Select a stage of your painting job. We'll walk you through the exact precautions, gear, and order to follow at that stage.
Painting looks simple, but the fumes, dust, and chemicals involved deserve real respect. Open containers only in ventilated areas, and avoid breathing in vapour directly from the can or while spraying.
Wash your hands before every break and at the end of the working day. Never eat, drink, or smoke while painting — contamination travels further than you'd expect.
Take off any contaminated clothing immediately, and always wash it separately before wearing it again. These aren't extra steps; they're the difference between a clean job and a health hazard.
"Routes of exposure are skin, eyes, and inhalation. Knowing what each route can cause — and what to do about it — keeps a paint job from becoming a health concern."
